There has been a fall of around 2% in the number of people losing their lives on EU roads in 2017, according to preliminary statistics released by the European Commission. This is apparently the second year in a row to see a fall in fatality numbers. 

A recent report published by the Department for Transport has concluded that there is a strong case for changing the law to tackle the issue of dangerous and careless cycling that causes injury or death. If the recommendation is accepted by Government it would bring cycling in line with driving offences.

Many people who drive as part of their job are being pressured into answering calls while on the road, but employers are failing to provide them with legally compliant hands-free kits. 

Road safety organisations have reacted with concern to the news that there has been an increase in the number of people killed and injured in road traffic accidents involving drink-driving. 

A recent survey into safety concerns of road users found that that drink and drug driving is one of biggest perceived threats to safety on Britain’s roads.
