Compensation after two year stay in hospital

A woman with spina bifida who had to spend over two years in hospital after medics failed to spot an infection developing in a pressure sore has been awarded £500,000 in compensation, reports the Daily Mail.

As the infection spread, Angela Banks became seriously unwell and had to be rushed to hospital. The infection was eventually brought under control, but surgeons had to remove a section of infected thigh bone and complications meant she had to stay in hospital for over two years.

The experience has left her with a large scar, and exacerbated her spina bifida, leaving her more physically restricted and dependent on her family.
